Our 4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Lake Bunyonyi Tour is a short but rich trip to enjoy the hilly landscapes of the Kigezi highlands. The forest is home to half the population of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Also visit Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in the country and is dotted with many islands.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by a World Africa Journeys company representative who will then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to mountain gorillas in Uganda. These live freely in the forest together with other forest creatures. The journey from Kampala takes about 9 hours with lunch in Mbarara town. You will arrive in time for dinner and overnight stay.
Accommodation: Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge or Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Batwa Community Visit
Have an early morning breakfast and head out to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials about the gorilla trekking activity. You will be assigned a ranger guide with whom you will enter the forest in search of the gorillas. The gorilla trekking duration depends on how far the gorilla families have moved. Once you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed up to 1 hour with them for observation and photography. Later, you will exit the forest and return to the lodge for an entertainment from the Batwa /Pygmies. These are the last group of short structured people in Uganda. They lived within the forest but due to conservation purposes they were evicted and continued living in the surrounding communities.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will move to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale area. This area is known as the Switzerland of Africa due to its natural beauty and similarity to this area. It is the deepest lake from Uganda, running along the border with Rwanda, on a clear beach. The next day you can see the distant hills of the Virunga great volcanic region. Arrive in time for lunch and after sailing along the lake, visit many islands including the island where animals live of birds, antelope, zebra for example.
Accommodation: Birds Nest, Bunyonyi Overland Camp.

Day 4: Departure
You will have tea or coffee to warm your tummy, after which you will hit the road. Lunch will be in Mbarara town at Igongo Cultural Center, arriving in Entebbe in time for your international flight back home.
