Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival – Kigali
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a World Africa Journeys tour guide who will brief you about your 7 Days Wildlife Safari in Rwanda and transfer you to your booked hotel of residence in Kigali City, check in and enjoy dinner plus an overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema.
Today after an early breakfast, join your safari guide for a transfer journey to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival check in, have lunch and later head out for an afternoon boat cruise experience on Lake Ihema. On a boat cruise grab an opportunity to spot impressive numbers of wild animals such as; crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants among others.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Rise up early in the morning, have lunch and head out for an exciting game viewing experience in the park. This allows you to meet with numerous early morning risers as well as the predators trying to hunt for an early morning feast. Here you spot amazing wildlife like elephants, bush giraffes, duikers, giraffes, waterbucks, zebras. Later return to the lodge for lunch. Check out and join your driver guide for a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. After arriving in the park, check in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Wake up early, have breakfast and get ready with your packed lunch boxes plus enough drinking and head to the park headquarters for briefing and the trekking exercise in the jungle. Here you are assigned ranger guides that brief you about the don’ts and dos while trekking. Later transfer to the starting point and begin the trekking. It is important to note that the trekking exercise lasts for about 30 minutes to 8 hours of the day depending on the location of the gorilla family. After locating the a gorilla family, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you observe their every day activities in the jungle as well as learning more about their lifestyle patterns in the jungle. After an awesome memorable experience, return to the lodge for a short relaxation. Later in the afternoon, head to the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village where you will get a chance to interact with the local people and learn more about their traditional cultures through the organized cultural dances.
Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, head out to the park headquarters at the lodge for briefing about the trekking dos and don’ts. Join the trekkers and transfer to the starting point and begin the trekking. After encountering the golden monkey troop, grab a chance to take photos, observe the behavioral patterns of life these amazing creatures and later return to the lodge check out and join a transfer drive to Nyungwe forest national park famous for the huge numbers of chimpanzees plus other primates. Upon arrival, check in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking
Rise up early for a morning breakfast, later head out to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking dos and don’ts while in the forest. Together with the park ranger guides, begin searching for the habituated chimpanzee families that are open for tourism. Trekking exercise for the chimpanzee families is not as difficult as the gorilla trek since it is easy to locate the chimp families. The trekking lasts for about 3 hours. Later return to the lodge to enjoy delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for an exciting canopy walk with in the forest. The walk takes you through the swinging bridge of about 50 meters long that has been balanced on tall trees of the forest. Here, you get a chance to spot various birdlife, wildlife and interesting plant tree species. Thereafter return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Kigali City – Departure
Today enjoy a leisure breakfast, check out of the lodge and join your driver guide for departure back to Kigali where you are dropped to your hotel of residence or at the airport to catch up with your flight back home or to the next safari destination.
