Rwanda’s only Savannah park, Akagera National Park, hosts game drives. The greatest way to tour a significant portion of savannah national parks while on safari is through game drives. Discover the park in a specially designed safari vehicle, such as a safari jeep, which is comfortable enough for a safari. Wildlife Game Drives in Akagera National Park offer chances to see various animals, birds, and stunning landscapes while relaxing in the luxury of the specially designed safari vehicles.

Wildlife Game Drives in Akagera National Park

A game drive in Akagera National Park is the greatest way to experience the best of Rwanda’s wildlife. The magnificent impala, the topi, and the only easily accessible location to observe the big five can only be found there.

The most amazing day-long trip from the south to the north offers several creatures to see and perhaps capture, a thrilling adventure, and the most breathtaking views from the top of the mountain over Lake Ihema into Tanzania.

You may choose between a morning game drive to see early-morning hunters and grazers, an afternoon, an evening, or a night game drive to see some of the nocturnal animals in the park.

If you want a lovely tour in a stunning wildlife environment, Akagera National Park should be on your radar even though Rwanda may not be the ideal African safari destination for wildlife safaris. The big five—elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, leopards, and lions—live in the park. There are also giraffes, zebras, and hippos in the park. The park is around a 3-hour drive from Kigali International Airport, making it one of the closest wildlife areas to the airport.

Entering the park from the main gate and spending the day travelling to the northern Nyungwe gate is one long but rewarding safari alternative because wildlife populations are significantly greater in the north.

East of Rwanda is Akagera National Park, which features lovely grasslands and numerous animal sightings when on a game drive. The whole Lake Ihema is included within the park, giving visitors the chance to go on a boat safari.

In Akagera, it is possible to self-drive your own vehicle throughout the park. You may hire a guide to ride along with you while driving. The guides can point you in the direction of locations with the greatest animals and show you beautiful picturesque vistas that you may otherwise overlook.

The park is home to various animals, around 500 different bird species, and most recently, the Big 5; lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and cape buffalo. Giraffes, Elephants, Bushbucks, Hippos, Impalas, Topi’s, Zebras, Buffaloes, and many other animals are among those to keep an eye out for. Although there are animals all around the park, game drives only take place in the northern half of the park due to its topography. The southern gate serves as both entry and exit to the park.
